Anykščiai Unveil New Outdoor Space and Wellness Initiatives

In our recent humanitarian project in the town of Anykščiai, Lithuania, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints collaborated with local Social Care Homes, providing essential services for disabled youth, the elderly (some as old as 104), and individuals with severe handicaps. The center had requested an outdoor gazebo, tables and chairs to expand activity space, as the limited indoor area posed a significant challenge for organizing events and activities that could bring residents, families, and the wider community together.

The Church generously funded an outdoor gazebo, along with tables, chairs, and a hot pot, creating a much-needed venue for events. Residents, staff, and community members expressed deep gratitude for this support, anticipating the positive impact on social connections and community engagement.

As we learned about the installation of this space, the gratitude from the Social Care Homes was evident. The sense of joy and anticipation among the residents, staff, and community members highlighted the positive impact such a space would have on fostering active participation and strengthening social connections.

In addition to the outdoor space, the Church allocated funds for two massage chairs in the senior home, emphasizing their commitment to the well-being of elderly residents. The Social Care Homes were appreciative of the longstanding support they had been seeking. Our experience in Anyksciai was not just about completing a project but witnessing the practical transformation of a community space that will improve the lives of those in the care homes, leaving a lasting impact on the town and its residents.
