A Glimpse of Humanity in Narva, Estonia

In the northeastern corner of Estonia lies a city where two worlds intersect The Narva River naturally separates Estonia from Russia, and a bridge spans the waterway, accommodating both pedestrians and vehicles.

It’s in Narva that we embarked on a humanitarian project. Our objective is to ensure children have the necessary tools for education, access to nourishing meals, and basic clothing through an organization dedicated to assisting large families with many children.

For me, this project might be the closet I’ll ever come to Russia, as the riverbanks provide an uncommon view along the border. This perspective, however, goes beyond geographical boundaries, offering insight into the lives and aspirations of people who share more commonalities than differences, regardless of the border.

Inspired by our experiences in Narva, let us aim to foster empathy and understand in our personal lives, regardless of where we stand in relation to geographical borders.

A Glimpse into Siauliai's Branch Meeting House Food Distribution

Amidst the bustling streets and historic sites, of Siauliai, Lithuania, a heartwarming narrative is unfolding within the city's downtown core. The meeting house of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has discovered a unique and transformative purpose – that of a distribution center providing sustenance to those in need.

The meeting house undergoes a transformation, turning into a bustling food distribution center. The members open its doors to Mastobankas for three distribution events each month. What's even more intriguing is that this project is led by Mastobankas, Lithuania's preeminent food bank.

Volunteers, from the food bank, come together to unload an assortment of provisions at the building, all in preparation for the generous act of nourishing those in need. The contents of these bags include essentials such as boxed milk, bottled peas, bread, grains, and an array of other food items. It's a collaboration that speaks volumes about the spirit of community.

What's remarkable is the diverse group of volunteers who come together to make it all possible. While the Church plays a crucial role by providing the space, most of the volunteers who participate are not members of the church. Instead, they're individuals who have chosen to give back through the food bank, selflessly contributing their time and energy to make a difference.

While the food bank distributes food to those in need, an unexpected consequence arises – a bridge of understanding is built between the community and the Church. Through this selfless endeavor, the church becomes a familiar presence, deeply ingrained in the tapestry of the city. The meeting house transforms from a place of worship into a symbol of compassion and unity.

Exploring Iconic Landmarks and Magical Sights

I am excited to share with you the incredible journey we recently took to London, the city chosen to be the Europe North Area office. Our trip was filled with unforgettable experiences and sites.

Upon arriving in London, we dedicated a day to acquainting ourselves with the city’s layout. During this time, we were privileged to witness some of London’s most iconic landmarks like Big Ben, Westminster Abby, and King’s Cross Station.

A definite highlight of our trip was seeing the towering Big Ben and the intricate rosette of Westminster Abbey. We couldn’t resist capturing the moment by snapping photographs of the famous red telephone booths with the majestic clock tower in the backdrop.

As a Harry Potter fan, visiting King’s Cross Station and Platform 9 ¾ was an absolute must. I couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement as we imagined ourselves boarding the Hogwarts Express.

Although our visit was brief, it left an unforgettable impression on us, with a desire to return and explore more of London’s rich history and vibrant atmosphere. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to revisit this busy city and delve deeper into its many wonders.
