Stockholm: From Scenic Beauty to Culinary Delights

Stockholm, Sweden, boasts scenic beauty with its spread across 14 islands, interconnected by waterways and bridges, amongst bustling streets and colorful architecture. Notably, the city has one of the highest rates of bicycle riders and extensive bike paths for transportation.

Old Stockholm, also known as Gamla Stan stands out as one of the city's most iconic and historic picturesque areas, characterized by narrow cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, souvenir shops and coffee houses selling "kanelbulle" celebrated for its unique twist.

Our culinary exploration in Stockholm introduced us to a variety of Swedish flavors, including pickled herring, Swedish meatballs, and reindeer burgers, accompanied by an array of hard breads, cheeses, and crisp wafer crackers. However, indulging in these delights came at a premium, as Sweden's cost of living, surpassed that of many other cities we've visited. Despite the expense, our immersion in Stockholm's culture and cuisine left an enduring impression and a desire to explore more of the city's offerings.

Our visit to Stockholm left an enduring impression, making it a beautiful city to remember and cherished memories for years to come.

London Adventures with Family

Spring break in London with family was an unforgettable adventure filled with rich cultural experiences and cherished family memories. From Big Ben standing beside the Thames River to the breathtaking Tower Bridge, each landmark we visited offered a glimpse into the city’s rich history. We wandered through the Tower of London, guided by the Yeomen Warders (Beefeaters), viewing the priceless Crown Jewels that sparkled before us.

Our exploration extended beyond the iconic sights as we immersed ourselves in the vibrant pulse of London life. Riding underground on the tube and sitting atop the famous red double-decker buses became not just a mode of transport, but an essential London experience that delighted everyone.

And of course, no visit to London would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights – from the iconic fish and chips to the delicate croissants and the tantalizing street foods of Borough Market.

Our exploration continued as we delved into the depths of history and knowledge at the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the National Gallery, and the Science Museum, each visit leaving us with a deeper appreciation for the beauty and wonder of the world around us.

Our visit reached its pinnacle with a magical journey into the world of Hogwarts at Harry Potter studio tour, where we witnessed the spellbinding creation of the beloved Harry Potter film sequels. Together as a family, our hearts brimmed with cherished memories in the iconic city of London.

The Beatles and the LDS Migration

A visit to Liverpool isn't complete without experiencing the iconic legacy of The Beatles. Our Beatles tour led us through the boyhood neighborhoods of Paul, John, Ringo, and George, all situated in close proximity. Along the way, we explored Penny Lane, tracing the path of their famous bus rides, and discovered Strawberry Field, originally an orphanage surrounded by wild strawberry fields. The early years of the Fab Four left an indelible mark on global music culture.

Moreover, Liverpool holds historical significance pioneering hub for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 19th century. Serving as a central base for LDS missionary efforts in England, the city attracted individuals and families seeking a new life in North America. Departing from the nearby port of Albert Dock, migrants embarked on a transatlantic journey with support from the Church, leaving behind their homes for the promise of a brighter future across the Atlantic. Today, their enduring legacy is evident in thriving communities across the United States, highlighting the enduring impact of faith and migration from Liverpool to the New World.

Overall, it is estimated that around nine million people emigrated through the port, with 85,000 being LDS members.
